A Shipibo Family of Curanderos

The Ayahuasca Foundation works exclusively with Shipibo curanderos from a single family lineage, ensuring a consistent philosophy, ideology, and methodology across our retreats, courses, and research. Their family bonds and shared background foster deep love and support among the healers. It’s an honor to collaborate with such dedicated practitioners, who continue to study and refine their healing practices.

Not every healer is also a great teacher, but the Shipibo curanderos we work with possess a unique blend of wisdom, power, and a willingness to openly share their knowledge for the benefit of future generations. True science is about expanding knowledge and improving practices, and our team embodies these values in their approach to plant spirit medicine. We are truly grateful for their dedication and generosity.

Leading the Initiation and Advanced Courses

Don Enrique

Don Enrique hails from the RoaBoya community near Pucallpa but now resides in Iquitos, where he leads the Ayahuasca Foundation’s eight-week initiation courses. He comes from a long lineage of curanderos and began his training at the young age of 11 under the guidance of his grandfather. With over four decades of experience, Don Enrique continues to study, follow plant dietas, and deepen his knowledge of and relationships with medicinal plants and their spirits.

He dedicates most of his time to his plant medicine school, Kesten Rono, which has become like a second home for him and his family. There, he is constantly planting new medicinal plants, improving the school, and healing and teaching visitors from around the world. His passion for sharing his knowledge is extraordinary. He tirelessly works to expand his understanding and to help others learn about the powerful healing potential of plant medicine. It is truly an honor to know and collaborate with someone so deeply connected to this tradition.

Leading the Ten Day Retreats

Doña Angela

Doña Angela is the sister of Don Enrique and Don Ronor, and she plays a key role in leading our ten-day retreats, including special sessions for veterans in collaboration with Heroic Hearts. She has undergone extensive plant dietas and brings a nurturing, motherly presence both in ceremonies and in everyday life. In addition to her healing work, Doña Angela is an exceptionally skilled artist, creating clothing, jewelry, and crafts in the traditional Shipibo style.

With decades of experience in her family’s lineage of plant medicine, passed down through generations, Doña Angela continues to refine her own unique approach, particularly through her distinctive style of singing. Her humble, gentle, and approachable demeanor puts participants at ease, creating a safe and welcoming atmosphere for deep healing and transformation. We are truly fortunate to have her leading our retreats at the Riosbo Retreat and Research Center, where her warmth and wisdom greatly enrich the healing experience.

Leading the Eighteen Day Retreats and Empowerment Courses

Don Ronor

Don Ronor, the youngest brother of Don Enrique, has been immersed in the world of plant medicine from a young age, growing up in a family of curanderos with a rich lineage of Shipibo healers. He trained alongside his brother for over a decade before stepping into the role of leading ceremonies himself. His deep knowledge of medicinal plants, coupled with his dedication to ongoing dietas and studies, has made him an accomplished healer in his own right.

Don Ronor now leads the longer retreats and Empowerment Courses at the Riosbo Ayahuasca Retreat and Research Center. His gentle and playful nature creates a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for participants, making it easier for them to connect, open up, and embark on their healing journeys. His humility and kindness are evident in everything he does, and he is deeply committed to providing the best possible care for each person he works with. His presence is a true blessing to our team, and we are incredibly grateful for the wisdom and compassion he brings to our programs.
